So the baby was due July 13th.  I went to the doctor again today and he decided that I needed to be induced.  The only way I can be induced is to schedule an appointment with the hospital.  So he calls the hospital. Guess when the next available time for an inducement is.  July 24.  Monday.  My birthday.  Labor on my birthday.

Dr. Pan tries to induce labor as naturally as possible, so if I go to the hospital at 6 am Monday morning I probably won’t have a baby until the 25th. A WHOLE day of labor wrapped in a neat little package!

Apparently all of Lourdes hospital’s birthing equipment had to be sent out to be cleaned after the flood so Wilson hospital had to take all the extra patients.

To top it all off I’m not even guarenteed a space on Monday morning, if many women go into labor naturally there will be no room for poor 11 day overdue me.

If you see something posted in the classifieds section of the paper and you want to buy it, resist the urge to call at 6 am.

And when the person tells you to call back after 8 am resist the urge to have your husband call at 7:50, 8:00, and 8:10.

Carry on.

 Edit:

I found a home for Newton, hopefully this one sticks.  He went to a 25 year old single guy who lives alone with no pets and a fenced in backyard.  He has also had beagles before.  When he came over to meet Newt they got along after only a few minutes which is rare.  Newton needed to be in a home where he could be the only pet and be a king and I think we found it.

First, no baby yet.

It looks like Newton is back at our house again.  The people that we gave him away to gave Caitlin a call this morning telling her to come get him.  He didn’t get along very well with their other dog, so they had to keep him in his crate all day long.  So sad.  Fortunately though they gave us a call first before doing anything else with him, so he’s back with us for the time being.  From what I heard, apparently he was so happy to see Cait that he peed in the car on the way home.

It’s hard enough giving your dog away once, I can’t imagine what it would be like to give him away twice.

Well today is the baby’s due date, and baby isn’t here.

Stubborn kid won’t finish cooking in there.  If there’s no baby by next week, they’ll induce labor sometime around Friday.

This weekend we found a new home for Newton. We posted him in the classifieds for two days, and to be honest I wasn’t expecting that many people to call.  We got our first call at 8 am on Saturday morning and the phone never stopped ringing.  We actually ended up giving him to the first caller, but we had about 8 couples come over and meet him.  The family is an older couple that live in the country with lots of fenced in land, they have a female beagle Newton’s age named Taffy.  I’m not worried about him one bit because his new family sent us this.  As far as I’m concerned anyone who creates that the day they get a new dog is probably going to treat that dog like a king.

I miss him.

Yesterday was a horrible day for me.  I mentioned before that my mother got a new puppy, and Lucy and Newton were getting along great.  Maybe once a week while Newton was chewing a bone, or thought he was going to get scraps from the counter, and another dog was going to get what he wanted, he would get aggressive and get right in the other dogs face and snarl and snap at them.  Other than his occasional freak-out he is the best dog on earth.

It’s been about two weeks since he had done this and I thought we had finally broken him of the habit.  Yesterday we were teaching Lucy and Newton new tricks and Lucy got a treat that Newton wanted and he actually attacked her, got up in her face, and made her bleed.  I don’t know if he bit her or scratched her or what happened but there was quite a bit of blood for such a small puppy.  It was really scary.

I’m due to have a baby any day now.  I’ve decided I have to find a new family for Newton.  Some dogs are good to have with families with babies, and some are good with five year old kids and up and Newton is definatly the latter.

At this point I feel like I’m trading one of my children for another and I’m pretty devistated.  The only thing that may make me feel better (but I doubt it) is finding a good family for him.

If anyone knows anyone in the Binghamton area or even anywhere that wants an already potty trained 9 month old Beagle please let us know.

John and I have been pretty busy lately. This past weekend we decided to escape our flooded county, which smells like sewage now by the way, and go up to Sterling, New York to catch the Renaissance festival.  We had lots of good food, saw some good shows, and my ankles got so swollen I had sausage-leg-Kankles.  My mother recently got a new cocka-poo, named Lucy. She’s actually half cockerspaniel and half toy poodle…Whatever, I think she looks like a bat.  Her and Newton get along great, he has taken on the role of her creepy uncle/boyfriend/jewish grandmother if you can imagine that.

Yesterday before I got the labor pains I completely finished the baby’s room and John put together the playpen and changing table, so we are now even more impatiently awaiting the baby.
