Did you know that out of the top 6 NCAA Basketball teams, 3 of them reside within 30 minutes of us? And 2 of them reside 10 minutes away!
Who to root for? I’ve always been partial to Duke, even before moving here.

Caitlin, Dominic and I went to a new pizza place near our house last week called Brixx thanks to a nice coupon we got for Christmas. After waiting a few moments to be seated, we were seated and asked what we would like to drink. Caitlin ordered a water, but I noticed that all import beers were on sale that night for $2.50 a pint. There were quite a few I have never tried, so I couldn’t resist….
Eyeing the Belgium beer selection, i said, “I’ll have a Stella Artois, please”.
“Alright, anything for the little boy”, asked the waitress.
“STELLAAAA!!!! STELLLLLLLAAAAAA!!!!! STELLAAAAAAAAAA!”, screamed Dominic.
Aparently Dominic had watched a spoof of the play on Sesame Street that day starring Grover.
The whole restaurant turned and laughed at us.
Although we consider ourselves technically astute, for Christmas Caitlin and I finally got a GPS reciever (and the last people we know to get one). Oh what fun it will be to have on car rides or if we get lost we thought. Little did we know this new toy could bring such great adventures.
I had heard about it before, but never really looked into geocaching. Never did I think it would be such fun! We set our sights on a park near our house here (where there are 12 geocaches) and called up our friends Bryan, Stacey, and their 7 month old son Aaron to go along. They had never done it before either, so it seemed like a fun day.
If you’ve never been, it’s a great excuse to get outdoors and hike in the woods. We saw so many fun things today and Dominic had a GREAT time - he wouldn’t stop talking about going treasure hunting the whole time. We managed to find 2 out of 4 caches we set out to find, and Dominic traded up from a set of crayons to a maraca, to a matchbox car Hummer! He was excited as everything. We can’t wait to go back!
